A case study of a creator.
In this case, virus was sent to me under the guise of a job offer.
A creator suddenly received an English DM on Twitter.
The content of the message reads as follows.
"I like your picture.
I will pay you enough for your work so can you design for me?"
So he said "OK", then he started this job offer.
As he proceeded with their correspondence and
I received the following message from the client.
I've put together some sample materials for you.
Please check the file attached.
As this is a very common occurrence so
he opened the file without any questions.
Yes.
A malware (virus) was included in the file
that could extract Metamask's private key.
Hackers will soon be able to steal
steal the creator's assets.
The client's (hacker's)
Twitter account was deleted
and the assets were transferred to an anonymous wallet.
OMG.
There is nothing he can do now.
The perpetrator is completely anonymous.
The NFT is a frightening world.
What should he have done?
Probably separating the work PC from the NFT PC is better.
Also, if you receive a suspicious file, check the file extension.
If you have to open the file, please do so on a secure PC.
This will help prevent damage.
I hope this story helps you someday.
