Emmanuelle Moureaux is a French architect based in Tokyo.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Calpis(soft drink), she hung 140,000 sheets of paper from the ceiling to create a colorful paper installation.

Each piece of paper is cut out in the shape of Japanese hiragana characters.

The colorful installation "Universe of Words" is has been inspired by the Japanese tradition of Tanabata.

Hiragana comes in 46 shapes, but Emmanuelle Moureaux dared to choose a simple language.

She said,

The universe formed by these floating hiragana evokes various emotions through its silence and its infinity.

This number of hiragana is truly overwhelming.
